When Your Boat’s Been Detailed, Everything is Right In the World…

By Jason Barker

boat-detailing-2smAhh… the wind in your face, the spray of the waves, the feel of the boat underneath you as it glides over the waves… And then a dead mouse rolls over your bare foot. That can ruin a day on the water in a hurry.

Last month’s newsletter offered an article on the importance of detailing your RV. Well, it’s much the same with your boat.

You’ve invested a good bit of money in it, and some day may want to trade it in to upgrade. If your boat’s been sitting in a storage lot or alongside the house over the winter, just like the RV it’s subject to everything mother nature can dish out. But more than the RV, your boat usually doesn’t have a door that can keep mother nature  – and all her little critters – out. Yes those fabric or vinyl boat covers help some, but as it ages it picks up tears, allowing easy entry for rain, branches, mice and more.

boat-detailing-1smProtect your investment on your boat and all of your watercraft by having them detailed at the beginning and end of the boating season. This will extend the life of your boat, its finish and its interior.

Detailing and polishing a boat is a bit different than doing the same to a car. Your boat’s gel coat is different than that of a car, and the surface comes with a lot of curves and edges, so it requires quite a bit more skill and experience to do the job well. Not to mention the fact that for a large portion of the job you’re waxing and polishing the hull or underside.

At the end of the season, think back about all the wear and tear on your boat. Sun, salt water, river water, sand, suntan lotion and spilled beverages. Get that taken care of right at the end of the season so it doesn’t have time to settle in over the winter. Also, the interesting scents of spilled drinks, fish bait, and bits of food that find their way into grooves and crevasses, make for a big invitation to critters who can not only make a nest, but might even make a meal of cushions and other upholstery.

So, don’t put it off any longer. Get your boat detailed now, so you’ll be proud of it when you launch this season. And show it how much you love it at the end of the season with a thorough detailing to protect it through the winter.

Someone You Should Know

Justin’s Web Design

Justin McWhirter started Justin’s Web Design in 2004, because he realized that there were few if any options for web design and development for small, one and two person businesses. Justin is very skilled in building web sites – and hosting them – so that the owner can easily update or modify the site without incurring the high cost of a web programmer. He’s very knowledgeable and responsive to client needs and, plain and simply, does an awesome job. Justin is the primary reason that Fresh Start Detail’s web site is so highly visible in search engines, and we get a lot of business from that! I highly recommend Justin’s Web Design!
