That Windshield Chip May Be Just the Beginning
By Jason Barker
Pop! Snap! Chip! Crack!
No… it’s not an action sequence from the original Batman television series. You’re driving along 217 heading to a meeting. The road was recently iced over and sand and gravel was spread out on it. The ice is gone, but those pebbles aren’t. They easily get launched from the tires of vehicles driving in front of you. Before you know it, you hear that Pop! or Snap! and you’ve got a windshield chip. If left unrepaired, it’s only a matter of time before it may grow into a full blown crack.
Windshield chips are repaired by injecting a special clear adhesive resin. The damaged area is strengthened, preventing the crack from spreading – in fact it’s guaranteed not to spread! The clarity is also improved at least 85%. Some other facts about dealing with that chip…
- Repairing (instead of replacing) a windshield is environmentally friendly. Thousands of damaged windshields are needlessly replaced every year, ending up in our landfills. Repairing a windshield will save it from the landfill!
- Repairs are very convenient taking less than an hour.
- Putting off a repair can lead to contamination of the windshield due to moisture from the elements, road grime and car washing.
- Repairs are better for your vehicle than replacement because the glass is never removed and the original factory seal is maintained.
- Repairs are more cost effective than replacement because they are often covered by your insurance so it won’t cost you anything out of pocket – and it doesn’t raise your insurance rates.
Get those chips and cracks taken care of today… it’ll be better for you, for your pocket book, for the environment and for your car!
The Beaverton Historical Society
The Beaverton Historical Society provides education to the community about our cultural heritage through the preservation, interpretation and celebration of our historic past.
Goals
- To collect and preserve photographs, artifacts and documents that relate to the city,
- To interpret and present city history through exhibits, educational programs, publications and special events,
- To make our history accessible to the community through both the Beaverton History Center and Beaverton Historical Society website.
Beaverton History Center
Our first exhibit is about the Atfalati-Kalapuya natives who were here a long time before Augustus Fanno and Lawrence Hall arrived in 1847. Learn about how they lived, what they ate and see some of the stone tools and hand woven baskets that they made. All this and more are on display.
The center is open Tues/Thurs, noon – 4pm.
