Fresh Start Detail Company in Beaverton, Oregon is proud to support the Recycled Rides Program.
Two local families were the recipients of the nationally acclaimed Recycled Rides Program recently at a ceremony at Precision Body & Paint Company’s Beaverton facility.
State Farm Insurance Company donated the two minivans that were total losses but only really needed cosmetic repairs and some deep cleaning. Precision then donated materials and labor to restore each vehicle to good, usable condition. Precision’s technicians also donated their time for the body work, paint labor, and assembly processes. Fresh Start Detail donated some much needed deep steam-cleaning and interior detailing. Precision’s administrative staff also gathered additional items on their own to fill each van with items to help the families set up housekeeping and begin a better quality of life included cooking items, dishes, silverware, toys, clothing, linens, new car seats, food and $500 cash. YWCA & Volunteers of America covered the first year of auto insurance.
Last year this program donated 47 vehicles. This year the goal nationwide was 100. By the year 2014, National Auto Body Council (NABC) is hopeful the goal will be nearing 500 donated vehicles in the US.
The program is a national awareness project whereby collision repair members of the NABC repair and then donate recycled vehicles to families in need in their communities. Recipients were chosen from Victims of Domestic Abuse Programs, sponsored by the YWCA Family Outreach Program and Volunteers of America. Both recipients had children.
